Countywide Recycling & Disposal Landfill on Gracemont Street in East Sparta is the local recycling center folks use when curbside pickup won’t do. Neighbors drop off everything from cardboard and paper to glass, metals and certain plastics, and some recycling centers nearby also run seasonal programs for bulky items or electronics.
Drive up to a gated entrance with a small booth and a scale-many sites weigh loads and you may need to stop again on the way out. The recycling bins and roll-off containers are usually clustered to one side just past the entrance booth, with room to pull up and sort out material from the driver’s side. The yard is the kind of place with a lot of traffic on weekends and during spring cleanups, so expect short waits and a bit of dust. Staff will point where to unload, so having items separated makes the visit quicker.
