Waste Management - Bismarck Recycling Center

2111 N 52nd St, Bismarck, ND 58501

(855) 292-6029

Small-city recycling center used by Bismarck residents and area farmers bringing household recyclables and light nonhazardous materials. A practical place for dropping off cardboard, cans, bottles and other common recyclables without driving into town proper. Expect a working, no-frills site rather than a showroom.

Drive up to the entrance on N 52nd St and slow down for a staffed booth and a scale - trucks and trailers often stop there to be weighed, so budget a few extra minutes. Recycling bins and roll-off containers sit past the booth; the loose stuff like cardboard or mixed containers is usually emptied straight into large bins, while mattresses or bulky items tend to go to a cleared-off area. The yard is open and industrial-looking, with gravel or pavement and room for truck maneuvering; in winter it can be icy and slower to get around. Weekends and spring cleanups bring the longest lines, so weekday or early-morning visits move faster.

Before You Go

  • Flatten and bundle boxes before arriving to save time and space in the containers.
  • Wear warm, grippy footwear in winter and secure loose loads with a tarp to avoid litter on the drive-in.
  • Sort glass, paper, and plastic at home into separate piles so unloading goes quicker and lines move faster.
