Transfer Station

Waste Management - Sanford Transfer Station

361 Waste Treatment Plant Rd, Siler City, NC 27344

(919) 777-5066

Small-town transfer station off Waste Treatment Plant Road that Siler City residents use when heading to a landfill farther away. Mostly serves people dropping off household and yard trash who want something closer than driving to a county landfill. It's the kind of place where trucks and pickups mix with people hauling trailers.

Drive in past a small entrance booth and be ready to pull up for a quick check before proceeding. The site is compact with a few large concrete bays and a compactor where loads get crushed and loaded onto bigger trucks. Recycling bins are usually off to one side and there’s a clear path for backing a trailer into a bay. Weekends, especially spring cleanup times, can have a line of vehicles waiting to get inside.

Before You Go

  • Bring something to cover loose trash in a pickup or on a trailer - wind can make a mess on the short drive from the road to the bay.
  • Have ID and anything needed to prove residency handy; the entrance booth is the first stop and it speeds things up.
  • If hauling a trailer, approach slowly and be ready to reverse into the bay space; the turnaround area isn’t huge so take it easy.
