(919) 774-9511Small transfer station on Wilkins Drive that locals bring household junk and yard waste to instead of driving all the way to a landfill. Neighbors, contractors with small loads, and anyone clearing out a truck bed use this place because it’s closer than the big dumps out of town.
There’s a guarded entrance or booth where vehicles line up to be directed into the yard, and a scale is commonly present so loads get weighed. Pull into clearly marked lanes and follow attendants’ directions to the drop-off bays or roll-off containers; the site is set up for quick unloading and then the material is compacted and hauled away by transfer trucks. The yard is industrial - lots of concrete, metal containers, and heavy equipment moving about - so expect dust and truck noise, and don’t linger in the working areas. Weekends and spring cleanup times usually have the longest lines, so plan for a wait if visiting then.
