Hanes Mill Road Landfill is the landfill on West Hanes Mill Road in Winston-Salem where larger household and commercial loads get buried. Landscapers, contractors and residents with big cleanups come here when curbside won’t handle the job. It’s a working, open site visible from the road-think dirt access roads, trucks, and heavy equipment moving around.
There’s an entrance area with a scale and tipping-fee structure, so drivers are weighed and fees are based on weight; expect to stop on the way in and again when leaving. After the scale, vehicles are routed to the active dumping area where dozers and compactors are working the face. The site is large with gravel and dirt surfaces; trailers and larger trucks are common and maneuvering can take a minute. Weekends and spring cleanup times tend to have the longest lines.
