Construction Debris: What You Can (and Can't) Take to the Dump
Renovating your home? Drywall, lumber, concrete, and roofing materials have different disposal rules than regular trash. Here's what to know.
Read more →Griffin Farms C & D Landfill is the construction-and-demolition landfill out on Morgan Mill Road that folks in Unionville and Monroe use when they’ve got demo or yard debris that needs burying. Locals, contractors, and anyone hauling heavy loads turn off the highway for this big, visible site where materials get buried instead of recycled.
A drive-up scale booth is hard to miss on the approach - vehicles stop to get weighed so expect to pull forward slowly and be directed by signage or attendants. The site itself is expansive with large, cleared areas and piles of fill; trucks and trailers move around, so watch for traffic and dusty conditions. Drop-off points or working faces are set back from the entrance, meaning a short drive in from the scale before unloading. After dumping, vehicles usually return over the scale to record outbound weight, since tipping fees are charged by weight at C&D landfills.
