Gastonia Transfer Station

2712 Lowell Road, Gastonia, NC 28054

800-963-4776

Gastonia Transfer Station on Lowell Road is the local spot where household loads get compacted and sent off to a landfill. Neighbors dropping off junk, yard debris, or recycling-type items use it because it’s closer than driving all the way to a distant landfill.

The site has an entrance booth and a drive-up flow where vehicles pull in, stop to be weighed, and then move to the tipping area; expect to cross the scale both coming and going since charges are by weight. There are large concrete bunkers and compactors visible from the drive, with piles and roll-off containers for different material types. Lines form on weekends and during spring cleanup, so be prepared for a short wait and for staff to direct traffic from the booth area.

Before You Go

  • Sort items in the truck or trailer ahead of time - keeping trash, recyclables, and bulky items separated speeds unloading and keeps people behind you happy.
  • Secure loose material with a tarp or tie-downs; wind and passing vehicles can make unsecured loads a headache and a safety issue.
  • North Carolina has special rules for electronics and hazardous household items; check Gaston County or city guidance beforehand so those things aren’t accidentally brought without knowing how they must be handled.
