(252) 475-5880Dare County Public Works Sanitation is the little county drop-off on Driftwood Drive in Manteo that locals use for household and small contractor loads. Neighbors, landscapers and anyone clearing out a closet or yard will turn up here rather than haul across the bridge to the mainland. The site looks and feels like a working county facility rather than a fancy retail center.
There’s an entrance with a small booth and traffic flows around a few large open bays and roll-off containers. Bring a vehicle that can pull up close to the containers; trucks and trailers are common on site. Expect piles of materials, a few dozen people on busy days, and a mostly outdoor, utilitarian layout. Weekends and spring cleanup season are noticeably busier and can form a short line to get in.
