(828) 389-9133A modest county transfer station just off Hinton Center Road in Hayesville, used by local residents dropping off household trash and recyclables. It’s the kind of place people swing by when hauling a load too big for curbside pickup but not worth the drive to a distant landfill.
There’s a small entrance booth and a drive-in area where trucks and cars pull up; don’t be surprised to wait behind a few pickups on busy days. The site compacts loads and then hauls them out to a landfill, so expect large compacting bays and piles of sorted material in the yard. Pull up to the scale if one’s present and follow the flow of traffic toward the drop-off points; signage and the booth will point the way. The recycling containers are usually off to one side, with general trash going to the main tipping area.
