Citizen's Convenience Center

313 North Dixon Avenue, Cary, NC 27513

(919) 469-4090

Small neighborhood drop-off spot in Cary for residential folks who need to get rid of everyday trash, recycling and yard debris. It’s the kind of place people swing by with a trunk load or a few bags rather than a full truckload. Expect a simple, no-frills setup at 313 North Dixon Avenue.

There’s a small entrance lane that leads up to a booth area and a handful of roll-off containers lined up; recycling bins are usually grouped together and yard waste has its own pile or container. Pull up to the booth area to sort out where each load should go, then drive slowly along the row to dump. The site feels compact compared with big transfer stations, so large vehicles have to maneuver carefully. Note that North Carolina has separate rules for electronics and household hazardous items, so those often aren’t mixed in with the regular bins.

Before You Go

  • Bring gloves and a couple of tarps - winds and loose leaves make a mess and tarps help keep things together when unloading.
  • Go midweek if possible; weekends, especially in spring and fall, get backed up and the line can stretch into the street.
  • Have items loosely sorted in the car before pulling in so unloading is quicker and someone behind won’t be stuck waiting.
