Waste Facility

Chowan County Convenient Center

2035 Virginia Rd, Edenton, NC 27932

(252) 221-4055

Small county drop-off used mainly by Edenton and nearby Chowan residents for everyday household disposal. The site sits on Virginia Road and handles the typical residential loads people bring for cleanup or regular trash runs.

Drive up the access road toward the entrance where there’s a small booth and a spot to pull up and get checked in. A scale is often on-site so vehicles may be weighed when they enter or leave. The lot has several covered and open containers visible from the drive; recyclables are usually grouped together just past the booth. Expect lines on weekends and during spring cleanup, with larger trucks moving around the yard.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarp loose material so it doesn’t blow out during the drive-loose loads are a pain at the drop-off.
  • Keep electronics and hazardous items separate; North Carolina has specific rules for those, so don’t assume they go in a regular bin.
  • Bring something sturdy to lift with (gloves or a dolly) and plan for possible wait time on weekends or mornings when traffic is heavier.
