Bristol Hill Sanitary Landfill is the larger landfill off State Route 3 just outside Fulton, used by residents, haulers and landscapers hauling heavier loads. It’s the kind of place where pickup trucks sit next to commercial trailers - not a drop-off like the city recycling centers.
Pull in from Route 3 and head toward the scale house and entrance booth; there’s usually a weigh scale for in-and-out weighing so expect to stop twice. The tipping area is open and exposed - bring tarps for loose material and be prepared to back a truck or trailer to the face. Landfills in this region typically charge tipping fees on a weight or volume basis, and many accept commercial loads, so plan accordingly. Lines can form on weekends or during spring cleanup, while weekdays are generally quieter.
