Ava Landfill

Ava Landfill, 7044 State Route 294, Boonville, 13309, New York

Ava Landfill on State Route 294 is the town landfill for Boonville and nearby areas - the place where trash gets buried rather than transferred. Residents and commercial haulers use it for final disposal, and like other upstate New York landfills there are tipping fees assessed (typically by weight) at the scale.

Drive up to an entrance lane and prepare to stop at a scale/booth area; the site handles fairly large loads so there are big dirt cells and heavy equipment working the piles. Pull through to the tipping area when directed and expect to see compactors and dozers flattening new material. Lines can form on weekends and during spring cleanup, and the site looks more industrial than a neighborhood drop-off - open air, gravel drives, and visible cover material on active cells.

Before You Go

  • Have municipal ID or any required permit handy - many upstate towns require proof to use the county or town landfill.
  • Secure and cover loose loads before driving in; loose debris and wind can create extra work and slow the tipping process.
  • Try to avoid peak times like weekend mornings and spring cleanup days when commercial haulers and residents both show up and traffic backs up.
