Jacona Transfer Station in Santa Fe North is the neighborhood spot where residents and small haulers drop off loads that get compacted and loaded onto bigger trucks bound for a landfill. People use it when hauling stuff that’s easier to leave at a nearby transfer station than to drive all the way out to a landfill.
There’s an entrance booth and a lane to pull up for check-in, then traffic moves toward scales and the tipping bays where loads are emptied. The site looks industrial - concrete bays, big compactors and transfer trailers are visible from the drive-in; expect dust and gravel underfoot. Lines build up on weekend mornings and during spring cleanup, so the drive-through can take a while at peak times. Keep things accessible in the vehicle: it’s common to stop more than once as vehicles are weighed and then directed to unload.
