Estancia Valley Regional Landfill

249 Side Winder, Moriarty, NM 87035

(505) 384-4270

Estancia Valley Regional Landfill is the big burial site just outside Moriarty where households and businesses bring trash that can't be dropped at smaller transfer stations. Lots of pickups, trailers and roll-offs come through; this is where stuff ends up when it needs to be buried. The site sees both residential and commercial traffic given its regional role.

Drive up to a small entrance booth and you’ll usually get waved over to a scale - the place charges by weight, so expect to stop twice if you’re hauling a trailer. The property is open and dusty with large cells of compacted cover and piles of incoming material; trucks line up on the approach road on busy days. Recycling containers sit off to one side past the booth, and commercial trucks often pull around to the active tipping face while smaller loads are directed to a separate unloading area. Weekend and spring-cleanup traffic is heavier, so plan for a short wait if arriving midday.

Before You Go

  • Bring tarps and tie-downs; unsecured loads can spill on the access road and require cleanup before weighing.
  • Allow extra time on Saturdays and during spring - lines can form and the scale can slow things down.
  • Have your load sorted as much as possible before getting to the booth so unloading goes quicker and you avoid extra trips around the site.
