Waste Management - Ocean County Recycling Center

601 New Hampshire Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701

(732) 905-4457

A solid spot in Lakewood for dropping off recyclables, mostly used by local homeowners and small contractors. It’s the county recycling center run by Waste Management and gets steady traffic from people trying to keep stuff out of the landfill.

The site is fairly large with a staffed entrance booth and a few lanes to pull up; there’s usually a scale to cross on the way in or out, and loads are weighed. Recyclable bins and piles are grouped nearby - paper, cardboard, metals and commingled containers are common at places like this. Vehicles pull up to different drop-off points depending on material, and trailers or pickup trucks will need to back into short unloading areas. Weekends and spring cleanups get busy, so expect lines and some slow-moving trucks.

Before You Go

  • Separate paper/cardboard from mixed containers at home so unloading goes faster and the right bin is used first.
  • Bring rakes, gloves and a tarp for loose debris - it speeds unloading and keeps things from blowing around.
  • Try to come midweek or early in the morning to avoid the longer weekend lines; have recyclables sorted by type before reaching the booth.
