Construction Debris: What You Can (and Can't) Take to the Dump
Renovating your home? Drywall, lumber, concrete, and roofing materials have different disposal rules than regular trash. Here's what to know.
Read more →Skytop Recycling is a neighborhood recycling center in West Milford that folks from town and nearby areas use to drop off household recyclables and bulky items. It's the kind of place frequented during cleanups and garage-clearouts, especially on busy weekend mornings. The site focuses on diverting materials from landfills and runs programs for common recyclables and some specialty drop-offs.
Drive up Airport Road and you'll see a small entrance booth where vehicles pause before heading in; the recycling bins are off to the right just past that booth. The lot is mid-sized - not tiny but not an industrial complex - with piles and containers labeled for things like cardboard, metals, plastics, and glass, plus spots for electronics or scrap items when special programs are running. There’s usually a scale on the way in or out, so trucks and trailers stop for weighing; be prepared to pull up, unload at the appropriate container, and then stop again if the scale is in use. Weekends, and spring clean-up times in particular, can get backed up, so expect lines then.
