Pershing County Sanitary Landfill is the county dump out on Lone Mountain Road, just outside Lovelock. Locals and contractors bring everything from small household loads to bigger commercial hauls. It’s a working landfill - trash gets buried - and fees are handled as tipping fees, generally charged by weight; commercial loads are commonly accepted, though rates can differ.
There’s a small entrance booth and a scale, so plan to stop and be weighed. The road in is dusty and you’ll see dirt mounds, heavy equipment, and a handful of large trucks moving around. Pull up where directed to unload, then usually head back over the scale before leaving. Expect lines on weekends and during spring cleanup, with larger rigs needing more room to maneuver.
