Loup Central Landfill sits just off Highway 11 in Elba and is where locals and haulers bring trash that needs to be buried. Neighbors making a run with household junk and folks with bigger loads both use the place. Tipping fees are weight-based, so loads get weighed and charged accordingly.
There’s a small entrance area with a scale near the approach; plan to slow down and stop to be weighed, and expect to stop again on the way out. Drive on the gravel access road and follow the obvious flow of traffic toward the working cells and disposal areas. The site itself is mostly bare earth and compacted lanes with piles and mounded areas - not a tidy recycling center. Lines can form, especially on weekends and during spring cleanup, so allow a little extra time.
