L.P. Gill Landfill sits on Highway 20 just outside Jackson and is where trash from around town ends up being buried. It’s the typical working landfill - used by homeowners with pickup loads as well as larger trucked deliveries, and fees are handled with a tipping structure based on weight.
There’s an entrance booth and a scale you’ll drive over-plan to stop on the way in and likely again on the way out for a second weigh. The site is mostly gravel roads, mounded cells of compacted material, and heavy equipment moving around; it looks industrial, not tidy. Pull up to the booth, they’ll direct where to dump, then head to the working face where trucks tip and compactors do their job. Expect dust in dry weather and some slowdown on busy weekends or spring cleanup times.
