Gering City Landfill

200531 U St, Gering, NE 69341

(308) 436-7568

Gering City Landfill is the municipal dump out on U Street that locals-farmers and households alike-use for final disposal. It’s the actual place where loads get buried rather than sorted or recycled on-site, and commercial trucks come through regularly.

There’s a drive-up scale and an attendant booth near the entrance, so vehicles usually stop in, get weighed, and then head to the tipping area. The site is large, mostly gravel roads and compacted dirt with open cells and heavy equipment moving around. Expect to pull up, wait your turn behind other trucks, tip at the working face, and then go back across the scale to be weighed out.

Before You Go

  • Secure tarps and loose material before getting on the road-loads get checked and anything blowing off can mean extra hassle.
  • Bring simple separation: keep bulky brush, construction debris, and household trash grouped so tipping goes quicker once at the face.
  • Plan for busy times-weekends and spring cleanup can have a line of trucks; give extra travel time and drive slowly on the gravel inside the site.
