Valley County Landfill

Valley County Landfill, 115 Landfill Road, Glasgow, 59230, Montana

Valley County Landfill is the county landfill on Landfill Road just outside Glasgow, where household garbage and larger loads get buried. Residents and commercial haulers use the site; as with most landfills it accepts both residential and commercial loads. It’s the final destination for stuff that can’t be recycled or taken to a transfer point.

Expect an entrance area with a scale and a booth - tipping fees at landfills are often calculated by weight or by set load rates, so be prepared for weighing. Pull up, get weighed, drive to the active dumping area, and then usually back over the scale when you leave. The site is mostly gravel and dirt with mounded, compacted material and heavy equipment moving around. Weekends and spring cleanup times can get backed up, so lines are common during those periods.

Before You Go

  • Cover and secure loads with a tarp or straps so wind and passing traffic don’t scatter debris.
  • Break down large items and sort bulky pieces beforehand to make unloading faster once at the drop area.
  • Try to go midweek or early morning to avoid weekend lines; big trailers and dump trucks slow the flow.
