City of Hardin Landfill is the town’s landfill just off Sarpy Road, used by local residents and commercial haulers in and around Hardin. It’s the kind of place where both pickup trucks with household trash and larger commercial loads show up to tip and move on. Expect a working, no-frills site rather than anything fancy.
There’s usually a scale near the entrance; landfills of this type charge tipping fees by weight, so vehicles typically stop on the scale and again when leaving. Pulling up to an attendant booth or scale house is standard-drivers then follow staff directions to the active cell or tipping area. The ground is mostly gravel and dirt, with piles of compacted fill and berms in view; larger trucks need room to maneuver. Winter weather can make access slower, and weekends or spring cleanup bring more traffic and occasional lineups.
