(417) 256-6254West Plains Transfer Station is the local transfer station on Old Airport Road that people from town use when they don't want to drive all the way to a distant landfill. Small haulers and residents drop off household trash and smaller loads here before it gets compacted and hauled out to a landfill.
The site looks like a working yard more than a tidy recycling center: a little entrance booth or gate, room to pull up with a truck or trailer, and piles or containers where trucks load up. Transfer stations often have a scale to weigh loads and compactors where trash is loaded into larger trucks, so expect to stop and line up if someone else is at the drop-off point. Weekends and spring cleanup times can be noticeably busier, with a few trucks coming and going and a bit of rumble from equipment around the site.
