West Plains Transfer Station

West Plains Transfer Station is the local transfer station on Old Airport Road that people from town use when they don't want to drive all the way to a distant landfill. Small haulers and residents drop off household trash and smaller loads here before it gets compacted and hauled out to a landfill.

The site looks like a working yard more than a tidy recycling center: a little entrance booth or gate, room to pull up with a truck or trailer, and piles or containers where trucks load up. Transfer stations often have a scale to weigh loads and compactors where trash is loaded into larger trucks, so expect to stop and line up if someone else is at the drop-off point. Weekends and spring cleanup times can be noticeably busier, with a few trucks coming and going and a bit of rumble from equipment around the site.
