Springfield Sanitary Landfill

Springfield Sanitary Landfill, 3545 W. Farm Road 34, Willard, 65781, Missouri

Springfield Sanitary Landfill on W. Farm Road 34 is the big burial site folks from Willard and nearby towns use when a pickup or trailer run won't do for curbside pickup. It's a true landfill - not a small drop-off - so expect heavy equipment and wide working areas. Both residential drop-offs and larger commercial loads are common there.

Pull in past a small entrance booth and across a scale; the scale is part of how charges are assessed, so plan to stop there. After that, vehicles are routed to open tipping areas where crews and machinery are moving loads into cells or piles - it looks like layered dirt and compacted material with equipment running. Recycling or roll-off containers are often placed near the front, off to one side of the entrance. Lines can form, especially on weekends and during spring cleanup, so the whole visit can take longer than a quick run to a transfer station.

Before You Go

  • Cover and strap down loose loads; wind will spread trash and make unloading slower and messier.
  • Bring sturdy gloves and boots - manual handling is common and ground can be muddy or rough.
  • Avoid weekend afternoons and peak spring cleanup times if possible; midweek or early mornings usually move faster.
