City of Joplin Recycling Center

1310 W A St, Joplin, MO 64801

(417) 624-0820 ext. 501

A city-run spot for dropping off recyclables in Joplin, used mostly by residents hauling household materials. Neighbors swing by with bags of paper, cardboard and common curbside recyclables, or with larger loads from home cleanups. It feels like a municipal facility-not fancy, just practical for getting things out of the trash pile.

Drive up to a small entrance area with a booth and work your way toward rows of containers and open bays for different materials. Residential loads are handled separately from commercial drop-offs, so look for the lanes that lead to the curbside-style bins. There’s typically a weigh-in or check at the entrance booth and another stop on the way out for the scale when weight matters. Weekends, especially in spring and fall, can get backed up, so expect a line if arriving mid-morning.

Before You Go

  • Sort recyclables into paper/cardboard, plastics, and metal before getting there so unloading goes faster.
  • Flatten boxes and bundle loose paper into bags or boxes to save time and space at the bins.
  • Secure lids and small parts in containers or sealed bags so nothing blows away while waiting in line or unloading.
