(573) 339-6353Cape Girardeau Transfer Station is the local spot where household loads get compacted and shipped off to a landfill elsewhere. Residents and small haulers use it when the landfill is too far or when a quick drop-off is needed. It sits on Corporate Circle and looks like an industrial yard rather than a retail recycling center.
Expect a gated entrance with an attendant booth and truck traffic; there’s typically a scale involved so vehicles may be weighed entering and leaving. Drive up to the booth to check in, then follow the lanes toward the tipping area where compactors and transfer trailers are parked. The yard is mostly concrete and gravel with heavy equipment around, so slow down and watch for backing trucks. Weekends, especially during spring cleanup, can get crowded and slow-moving.
