Backridge Landfill

Backridge Landfill, 26265 State Highway B, La Grange, 63448, Missouri

Backridge Landfill is the county landfill just off State Highway B outside La Grange, used by folks hauling household junk, construction debris, and commercial loads that need burial. It’s a working landfill - the place where trash is taken to be buried - and mostly visited by people with trailers or big pickups rather than regular curbside trash customers.

Drive up to an entrance booth and a scale; most landfills of this type weigh vehicles and structure tipping fees by weight or by vehicle type, so plan for at least one stop to be weighed. The tipping area is an open pad with graded access roads leading to active cells and mounded material; expect gravel and heavy equipment noise. Pull up, get checked at the booth, then head to the active unloading spot - larger trucks and commercial loads are commonly accepted and typically billed differently than residential loads. Weekends and spring cleanup times tend to be busiest, so lines can form.

Before You Go

  • Cover loads so lightweight debris doesn’t blow out on the way in; tarps and tied-down items save time and hassle at the gate.
  • Separate bulky items and obviously recyclable materials before getting there - moving things around on-site takes extra time and effort.
  • Bring paperwork or any vehicle or business ID usually required for commercial loads; having that ready speeds the check-in and weighing process.
