Transfer Station & Demolition Landfill

2506 740th Ave, Albert Lea, MN 56007

(507) 373-5013

Small-town transfer station used by Albert Lea residents for dropping off residential loads and demolition debris. It’s the kind of place people swing by when a pickup or trailer is too full to haul to a distant landfill. Winters can change how things feel here, so come prepared for cold and the occasional indoor drop-off area in similar Minnesota facilities.

Drive in to a simple entrance with a booth where vehicles normally stop and check in, then pull up to the loading/compaction area. Transfer stations like this compact loads and load them onto larger trucks to go elsewhere, so the working area is noisy and industrial-looking with piles and bays. There’s often a scale involved and charges are commonly based on weight, so be ready for a short stop on the way out. Recycling bins tend to be off to one side and weekends or spring clean-up times can get busy.

Before You Go

  • Bring something to cover loose material-wind can scatter debris and cold weather makes tarps stiff.
  • Show up earlier in the day on weekends if possible; lines build up during spring clean-up times.
  • Load vehicles so heavy stuff is easy to toss first and lighter items last to speed the offload process.
