(612) 348-3777Hennepin Hazardous Waste Dropoff and Transfer Station on Jefferson Highway in Brooklyn Park is where locals bring household hazardous items and other loads that get compacted and trucked offsite. Neighbors use it when a quick trip to a distant landfill isn’t convenient. The site looks like a working transfer yard with a small entrance booth and heavy equipment around the dropoff pits.
There’s usually a small gatehouse or booth at the entrance and a scale nearby, so many people stop twice - in and then out - if fees are charged by weight. Pull up into the marked lanes and follow the traffic flow past compactors and large roll-off areas; big trucks come and go, so give them space. The yard can be dusty and noisy, with concrete walls and metal clanking, and parking is mainly for unloading rather than lingering. Weekends get backed up, especially during spring cleanup season.
