Cottonwood County Sanitary Landfill is the county landfill out on County Highway 22, the place locals use when trash, construction debris or oversized items need to be buried rather than recycled. Neighbors, small haulers and contractors all make runs out here when something isn’t going to a transfer station or recycling center.
Expect a scale and a small entrance booth area where loads are checked; tipping fees at landfills like this are typically charged by weight, so most vehicles stop on the way in and again on the way out. The site is large with open tipping areas, piles of compacted material and heavy equipment moving around, so drive slowly and watch for trucks. Residential loads usually move through quicker, while commercial haulers often have separate procedures or rates. Recycling or special-drop items, if accepted, are often grouped near the entrance to make unloading easier.
