Transfer Station

WesTransfer Stationide RDF

14094 M-60 West, Three Rivers, MI 49093

WesTransfer Stationide RDF is the transfer station out on M-60 that residents of Three Rivers and nearby rural spots use when a trip to a distant landfill isn't practical. Locals bring household trash, bulky items, and the kinds of cleanouts that don't fit in a curbside bin. Expect a working, no-frills site where trucks move material out to a landfill after compacting it on site.

Drive in off M-60 and you'll pull up to an entrance booth where you'll check in and get directed; there’s usually a scale to cross on the way in or out since loads are weighed. The yard has large concrete pits or roll-off areas and compacting equipment; transfer trailers and dump trucks are commonly visible. Recycling containers, if present, tend to be to the side of the main drop-off area and are separate from the general trash tipping area. Weekends, especially during spring cleanup, can get backed up and require waiting in line to get to the drop-off point.

Before You Go

  • Bring something to secure loose items in the truck bed or trailer-wind can blow lightweight stuff around before it’s tipped.
  • Sort large pieces (like wood, furniture, mattresses) so unloading is quicker; the quicker a load is emptied the faster the line moves.
  • Remember Michigan has a bottle/can deposit law-deposit-eligible containers are often handled differently, so keep those separated from general recycling or trash.
