Transfer Station

South Haven Township Transfer Station

70294 Co Rd 384, South Haven, MI 49090

(269) 637-3305

Small local transfer station just off County Road 384 that locals use when they don’t want to drive to a distant landfill. It handles compacting and loading trash into larger trucks for transport out of the area, so neighbors drop off household loads and small trailers here.

There’s usually a small entrance booth and a scale where vehicles may be weighed, so plan for a brief stop at the gate. The site is mostly concrete and large bins or a compactor area; expect to drive up, unload, then pull forward for a weigh-out if needed. Weekends and spring cleanup days can have a line, while midweek visits are quicker. Recycling bins are often set to one side of the entrance rather than mixed in with the main drop-off.

Before You Go

  • Bring loads already sorted as much as possible - separating recyclables and bulky items saves time at the drop-off.
  • Be prepared to back up or maneuver a trailer to the compactor/unloading area; have ropes and gloves handy for awkward items.
  • Try for a weekday morning if possible; lines and wait times increase on weekends and during seasonal cleanups.
