Republic Services Manistee County Landfill

3890 Camp Rd, Manistee, MI 49660

(800) 968-4143

Republic Services Manistee County Landfill is the county landfill out on Camp Road in Manistee, used by residents and commercial haulers for final disposal of trash. It’s the place to bring loads that can’t be recycled or redeemed elsewhere, and it’s run at a fairly large scale compared with smaller transfer stations in the area.

Drive in to a staffed entrance booth and be ready to pull onto a scale for weighing; charges are typically based on weight so expect to stop again on the way out. After the scale there are dirt and gravel roads that lead to active tipping areas and large, compacted cells-watch for heavy equipment and big trucks. The site looks like open fields with layered berms and working faces rather than enclosed buildings, and commercial haulers are a common sight alongside pickup trucks and trailers.

Before You Go

  • Secure and cover loads before coming-loose debris and dust blow around and can get tracked on the road.
  • Plan for delays on weekends and during spring cleanup; lines for the scale and tipping area can form when everyone’s cleaning out garages.
  • Because Michigan has a bottle/can deposit program, bring refundable containers to a redemption center instead of the landfill to save on what gets hauled and weighed.
