Construction Debris: What You Can (and Can't) Take to the Dump
Renovating your home? Drywall, lumber, concrete, and roofing materials have different disposal rules than regular trash. Here's what to know.
Read more →Pine Tree Acres Landfill is the municipal landfill just outside Lenox that handles the final disposal of trash for residents and businesses in the area. Folks drop off everything from household junk to commercial loads here; it's not a transfer station or recycling center. Expect a working, no-frills site with big trucks coming and going.
Drive up to a small entrance booth and be prepared to pull onto a scale - tipping fees are charged by weight, so there’s usually a stop on the way in and another on the way out. The site is wide open with large, dirt-and-grass cells; heavy equipment moves material around and there’s a visible working face where trucks unload. Recycling or bottle/can returns in Michigan are often handled separately, so keep refundable containers apart if planning to return them elsewhere. Weekends and spring cleanup bring more traffic, so lines and waiting at the scale aren’t unusual.
