Solid Waste Facility

Muskegon County Solid Waste

9366 Apple Ave, Ravenna, MI 49451

(231) 724-6001

A county-run solid waste site out on Apple Avenue that handles household trash, recycling and yard materials for local residents. People from Ravenna and nearby towns bring pickup loads, trailers and bags here. The place looks and feels like a working transfer lot rather than a tidy recycling center.

There’s an entrance booth where attendants check vehicles and collect payment, and a scale to weigh loads so expect to stop twice. Pull up to the booth first, then follow the signs and staff directions to drop-off areas; recycling containers are usually clustered to one side and bulky or yard pick-ups on the other. The surface is gravel and pavement with piles, bins and a few roll-off containers-not much landscaping. Weekends and spring cleanup days can build a line, so plan for wait time.

Before You Go

  • Have proof of residency or an ID handy since county sites often require it at the booth.
  • Secure loose material and tarp trailers before leaving the road; loose debris makes traffic slower and causes extra cleanup.
  • Separate obvious recyclables from trash in advance and set them in easy-to-reach spots in the vehicle to speed unloading.
