KBIC Solid Waste Facility

16278 Ojibwa Industrial Park Rd, Baraga, MI 49908

(906) 353-8024

A small, community solid waste drop-off on Ojibwa Industrial Park Road used by local homeowners and small haulers. It looks like an industrial lot rather than a polished recycling center, and most folks use it for household trash, yard debris and the usual recyclables. Vehicles of all sizes pull in from Baraga and nearby towns when they need to unload.

Drive up the gravel or paved entrance and there’s typically a small booth or gate where someone will direct traffic and point to the right pile or bin. There’s a scale or weigh point at many Michigan transfer sites, so expect to stop and be routed to a dumping area and then back over the scale on the way out. Recycling bins and yard waste piles are usually off to one side while household trash goes in a different area; it’s not a tidy retail setup, it’s more functional and industrial. Weekends, especially during spring cleanup, tend to be the busiest times and lines can form.

Before You Go

  • Sort materials in the truck ahead of time so unloading goes faster - keep recyclables, yard waste and trash separate if possible.
  • Bring gloves and a tarp; the ground and containers can be muddy and sharp bits can be hidden in loads.
  • Avoid weekend afternoons if possible - midweek or early morning visits usually move quicker.
