Construction Debris: What You Can (and Can't) Take to the Dump
Renovating your home? Drywall, lumber, concrete, and roofing materials have different disposal rules than regular trash. Here's what to know.
Read more →Huron Landfill Corporation is the local landfill on the south side of Bad Axe, used by both residents and larger haulers bringing trash for final burial. It’s the place commercial trucks and pickup loads end up when trash can’t be recycled or returned for deposit. Expect a working, no-frills site rather than anything fancy.
There’s a weigh station and an office booth where loads are checked and fees are calculated by weight, so drivers usually stop twice - in and out. Pull up slowly to the booth and follow the flow of trucks; the site is open dirt and gravel with large landfill cells and compacted areas. Recycling or deposit-return bottles and cans are often handled separately, so many people pull those items out before lining up. Weekends and spring cleanup bring longer lines, and commercial trucks share the same entrance as residential vehicles.
