GFL Dafter Landfill is the local spot where residential and commercial garbage gets buried. Located just off W 12 Mile Rd in Dafter, it’s used by homeowners doing cleanouts and trucks hauling commercial loads. Expect a working landfill-big piles, heavy equipment, and the usual smell.
Drive up to a small entrance booth and be ready to pull onto a scale; tipping fees are charged by weight so there’s usually a weigh-in and weigh-out. The site is large with dirt roads, packed working areas, and compactors or loaders moving material around. Residential drop-offs and roll-off trucks both use the facility, and lines can form on busy weekends or during spring cleanup. Bring a tarp or straps if hauling loose material since loads are often checked for containment.
