Delta Wide Recycling

19th Ave N, Escanaba, MI 49829

Delta Wide Recycling is the small recycling center off 19th Ave N that locals drop by with bags and pickups full of recyclables. Neighbors, yard crews, and folks cleaning out garages use this place to keep things out of the landfill. It’s the kind of no-frills spot that handles the usual stuff-bottles, cans, paper, cardboard and scrap metal-and participates in the local bottle/can return system common in Michigan.

Drive up the gravel entrance and slow down for the entrance booth and a scale building near the driveway; larger trucks and trailers pull in carefully because there’s room to maneuver but not a lot of extra space. The recycling bins sit a short walk from the booth, with separate areas for groupings like paper, cardboard and metal; bottles and cans are processed differently because of Michigan’s deposit program. Expect a working-yard look: piles, bunks, and forklifts in the background on busier days, and a clear path for vehicles to pull up, unload and then cross the scale on the way out. Weekends and spring cleanup times get noticeably busier, so lines and waiting are common then.

Before You Go

  • Bring items sorted by material if possible-cardboard flattened and paper in bags makes unloading quicker and keeps traffic moving.
  • Have smaller loads staged for a quick drive-up; trailers and big pickups need more room to back and turn.
  • Plan for a bit of waiting during weekends or early spring when the yard fills up; a little patience speeds the whole line.
