Central Sanitary Landfill in Pierson is the place where local household and commercial trash gets buried. Located out on Cannonsville Road, it’s used by homeowners with big cleanups and by contractors bringing commercial loads. The site is fairly large compared with a neighborhood drop-off, so expect a working landfill feel rather than a tidy recycling center.
There’s a scale and a small entrance booth - traffic usually stops to be weighed and tipping fees are based on that weight, with a typical minimum for small loads. After weighing in, drive toward the active tipping area on gravel roads; heavy equipment and capped dirt mounds are visible from the drop-off points. Pull up, unload where directed, then usually run back across the scale for an outbound weight before leaving.
