Town of Oak Bluffs Landfill

16 Pennsylvania Ave, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557

(508) 693-0072

The Town of Oak Bluffs Landfill is the municipal dump on Pennsylvania Ave where household trash and larger loads end up. Neighbors, landscapers and commercial haulers use this spot for final disposal and for dropping off sorted recyclables as required by Massachusetts rules. It’s a working landfill - the kind of place where trucks rumble and earth gets moved daily.

There’s usually a small entrance area with a scale and a booth; expect to stop to be weighed and then drive in to the drop-off area. The site is mostly open space with piles, compacted sections and heavy equipment pushing material around, so follow whatever directions are posted at the lanes. Recycling and banned-item rules in Massachusetts mean loads are often checked for separated material, so have things grouped before getting to the gate. Weekends, especially during spring cleanup, can get backed up and there’s often a line of trucks waiting to get on the scale.

Before You Go

  • Cover and tie down loose loads to prevent debris blowing out while driving on Pennsylvania Ave.
  • Sort recyclables and anything that might be banned under Massachusetts rules before reaching the gate so unloading goes faster.
  • Bring gloves, sturdy shoes and a helper if lifting bulky or awkward items; the terrain near the active faces can be uneven and dirty.
