Scituate Transfer Station

280 Driftway, Scituate, MA 02066

(781) 545-8729

Small transfer station used by Scituate residents for dropping off household trash and recyclables. Located on Driftway, it’s the local spot people use instead of driving out to a distant landfill. Expect a practical, working site rather than anything fancy.

Pull up to a staffed entrance booth and be prepared to stop briefly; many transfer stations have a scale and a weigh-in/ weigh-out routine. The site looks industrial - compactors, roll-off containers and a paved drive where trucks move around, so follow traffic flow and signage. Recycling containers and drop-off points are clustered rather than spread out, and weekends or spring cleanup days can have a line. Bring items already separated if possible since Massachusetts has strict recycling rules and many places expect materials sorted.

Before You Go

  • Have proof of residency or a town sticker ready and visible - resident verification is commonly requested at local stations.
  • Avoid weekend mid-mornings if possible; weekdays or late afternoons are usually quicker.
  • Load items so they’re easy to lift and hand off, and bring gloves and a tarp - it’s a working yard and things can be dusty or muddy.
