Transfer Station

Lincoln Transfer Station

1 Mill St #37, Lincoln, MA 01773

Lincoln Transfer Station is the small town transfer station on Mill Street that most Lincoln residents use for drop-offs instead of driving out to a distant landfill. Cars and small trucks turn through the single-lane entrance to get rid of household trash and recyclables; haulers compact material here and haul it elsewhere.

Drive up to an entrance booth and be ready to stop; many transfer stations have a scale and a stop on the way out for weighing. The site is compact with a few open bays and tipping areas rather than a big landfill pit, and recycling containers sit off to one side. Weekends and spring-cleanup times get the longest lines, so expect to see a short queue during those periods. Bring items already sorted as most places in Massachusetts expect separation of recyclables from trash.

Before You Go

  • Sort paper, glass, plastics, and metal at home before leaving so unloading goes faster and avoids extra trips.
  • Avoid peak hours-mornings and late afternoons on weekdays are usually quicker than weekend middays.
  • Secure loose items in the truck bed or tied-down; windy days can turn a half-empty load into a mess for the next driver.
