(978) 352-9948G. Mello Disposal Transfer Station on E Main Street is the small-town transfer station people from Georgetown and nearby towns use when the landfill is too far. It’s the place to drop off household trash and separated recyclables before they get compacted and hauled out to a landfill elsewhere.
Drive up to a low entrance with a small booth where attendants check vehicles and direct traffic; there’s usually a stop at a scale so trucks are weighed. Vehicles pull up to different bays or compactors depending on whether it’s trash or recyclables, and piles and roll-offs are visible across the yard. The site is industrial - gravel or paved lots, big compacting equipment, and a fair amount of dust on busy days. Weekends and spring cleanup times often mean lines, so expect a short wait during peak times.
