Clinton Landfill

10-58 Pondview Dr, Lancaster, MA 01523

Clinton Landfill in Lancaster is the town’s municipal landfill where household and commercial trash ends up. Neighbors, landscapers, and haulers use it for the final disposal of non-recyclable material.

Drive up to a small entrance area with a scale-loads are weighed and tipping fees are charged by weight. There’s a booth/scale house near the entrance and a clear drive where trucks and cars queue to be weighed and then directed to the working face. The site is open, with piles of cover material and compacted trash; expect the usual smells and truck traffic. Because Massachusetts has strict recycling rules, bring separated recyclables and be prepared that some items will not be accepted.

Before You Go

  • Sort recyclables and keep them separate before leaving home-many items are banned from landfills or need to go to recycling.
  • Secure tarps and straps on open loads; wind can scatter debris on the drive in and out.
  • Avoid weekend mornings during spring cleanup if possible-lines tend to form and wait times increase.
