City of Newton Resource Recovery Center

115 Rumford Ave, Auburndale, MA 02466

(617) 796-1000

This is Newton’s local resource recovery center on Rumford Avenue, used by residents hauling household cleanouts, yard waste, or construction debris. Locals bring carloads and small trailers here rather than leaving big items at the curb.

Drive up to a small entrance booth where vehicles usually pause for a quick check; then pull forward past the booth toward the collection areas. There’s a scale and several drop-off bays and piles, so expect to stop, unload, and follow attendants’ directions for where to leave different things. The site feels industrial-concrete and metal containers, with traffic cones and signs guiding flows-and weekends, especially in spring, tend to be noticeably busier.

Before You Go

  • Bring straps or tie-downs if hauling a trailer; loads get shifted during unloading and tarps help keep things contained.
  • Have materials loosely sorted in the vehicle so unloading at the correct bay is quicker-it saves time when cones and lines are busy.
  • Arrive early on weekends if possible; lines form and backing up a trailer in tight spaces is awkward when the lot is crowded.
