Waste Facility

Chicopee Department of Public Works

115 Baskin Dr, Chicopee, MA 01013

(413) 594-3557

Small city-run disposal site that Chicopee residents use for household cleanouts and yard waste. Easy to find on Baskin Drive, mainly used by people dropping off residential loads and contractor trucks on occasion.

A simple entrance with a small booth and a lane for cars and pickups to pull up; larger trucks have space to navigate but move slowly. Expect to stop at a scale or weigh station and then loop around to the drop-off areas. Recycling in Massachusetts means separating materials ahead of time, so there are separate bins and signs for different items. Weekends, especially in spring, tend to get busy and lines can form at the gate and at the recycling area.

Before You Go

  • Bring items loosely sorted into vehicle-safe piles so unloading goes faster and nothing tumbles out when backing up.
  • Put heavy or awkward pieces near the tailgate and have someone steady them - it makes dropping off mattresses, furniture, or big bags safer and quicker.
  • Separate recyclables from trash before arriving and be mindful that Massachusetts has banned-item lists and separation rules, so keep problem items (electronics, batteries, etc.) apart until their proper drop-off is confirmed.
