Bondi Island Landfill on Agawam Avenue is the municipal landfill folks from Agawam and nearby West Springfield use when there’s more than the curbside can handle. It’s a large working site where homeowners and larger haulers both come through; landfills of this scale typically accept commercial loads and charge tipping fees by weight.
Drive up to an entrance booth and a weigh scale-vehicles usually stop to be weighed and then again on the way out. After the booth, follow the traffic flow toward the open tipping areas; there’s a lot of heavy equipment and piles of material, so give big trucks space to maneuver. The site looks rough and industrial rather than tidy, with dirt roads and staged cells where material gets buried. Expect tipping fees charged by weight with a minimum for small loads, and separate areas for different kinds of drop-offs.
