Valley Lee Transfer Station

45350 Happyland Rd, Valley Lee, MD 20692

(301) 994-3677

Small county transfer station on the north side of Valley Lee that locals use when hauling household junk or yard debris instead of driving to a distant landfill. Most users are residents dropping off full loads from pickup trucks, trailers, or small trailers from nearby farms and homes.

Pull up to a staffed entrance booth where attendants will direct traffic; there’s usually a scale nearby so vehicles may be weighed on the way in or out. The site is compact compared with big metro facilities - expect a handful of concrete bunkers, a tipping floor and compactors working in the center. Recycling and special drop-off containers are typically grouped off to one side past the booth, and trucks move through in a steady flow rather than a long, winding line.

Before You Go

  • Secure loose items and tarp loads; wind and the compactor area can scatter light debris during unloading.
  • Arrive early on weekend mornings-lines get long during spring cleanup and holiday weeks, and arriving sooner trims wait time.
  • Keep recyclables separated from trash in the bed of the truck so unloading goes faster and fewer trips across the tipping floor are needed.
